Premier Australian aluminium power cat manufacturer, Sailfish, has launched a new flagship model to their powerful offshore boating line-up. Proudly marketed by leading Sailfish retailer Webbe Marine, the new Sailfish 3300 Platinum. Series Weekender is expected to make a big impression on the booming cruiser market in Australia.
From all angles the new Sailfish 3300 looks like a serious rough water power cat. With its imposing sharp vee bow entry and Targa inspired sports cabin, the latest project from Sailfish boasts a sophisticated mix of modern cruising style blended with rugged offshore performance.
The Sailfish 3300 measures a full 10.0 metres overall and offers an expansive boating platform with 3.5 metres of beam delivering a huge rear cockpit and cavernous onboard accommodation.
Everything needed for comfortable live-aboard cruising has been carefully thought of including an enclosed bathroom, full galley and spacious forward sleeping quarters.
Sailfish catamarans are often mistaken for fibreglass boats due to their high standard of finish and seamless construction techniques, with the 3300 Platinum Series Weekender no exception. Attention to detail is evident throughout the boat and hull strength is assured with the Sailfish design team using 6 mm plate aluminium on the hull, 6 mm on the chines and building each pontoon with a solid 25 mm keel.
Powering the 3500 kg hull has been left in the capable hands of twin Honda 225hp 4-stroke outboards, delivering a top speed of 37 knots. Renowned for their industry proven V-TEC technology and smooth performance, the Honda engines fitted to the transom the Sailfish 3300 deliver an outstanding cruising range.
First impressions are bold and exciting with the Sailfish’s Weekendertaking pride of place. Tinted side windows and a sleek roof design add to a stealthy profile while the stepped coaming, strong Targa pillar and forward raked bow rail add further confidence to this boats’ tough sea going capabilities.
Inside the cabin, the Sailfish team has taken advantage of the 3.5 metre beam allowing boaters space to spread out and enjoy the creature comforts. The fully lined forward sleeping quarters hold a full size double bed mattress, a 1.8m step down area plus a number of screened glass hatches and port holes for natural light and ventilation.
Internal room is nowhere more evident than heading aft into the main cabin area where a large room is divided by the portside dining lounge area and the fully loaded helm and galley station to starboard. A high backed U-shaped lounge cradles a removable swivel table which can easily accommodate 4 guests in comfort.
Across to starboard, skippers will appreciate the dash design of the helm which extends half way across the bulkhead in line with the double helm seat. The entire one piece dash unit is ergonomically positioned for excellent visibility and offers room for twin engine instrumentation, large electronic units and the full array of radio equipment.
Step aft from the helm and a well laden galley unit takes centre stage with a separate 130 litre fridge and, tucked under the helm seat, a 90 litre freezer, metho stove and a fully plumbed sink. Deep draws and provision for a microwave on the overhead shelf add to the storage solutions.
Particular attention has been paid to the rear cockpit layout with clever additions like a fold down club lounge with removable table easily turning a fishing workstation into an entertainer. Camping covers with windows and flyscreens add to the cruising appeal of the Sailfish 3300.
Tucked neatly between the club lounge and the cabin door is a portside locker that houses a clever bathroom facility. Stepped down below deck for extra internal height, the enclosed bathroom features an electric toilet with holding tank, stainless steel hand wash basin and storage plus the fully plumbed hot water shower feeding from a 200 litre freshwater tank.
Fishing enthusiasts are more than catered for with rod holders found throughout the wide padded coaming and deep side pockets allowing storage for all the gear. The angling credentials also include an underfloor kill tank, cockpit deck wash and extended cockpit boarding platform.
Onboard cabin electrics are driven by four 100 amp gel batteries with twin 90 amp deep cycle engine batteries supporting the dual Honda outboards. A BEP battery cluster with VSR charging maintains power while a 6 way and 2 way switch panel governs the fused electrics. An onboard inverter supplies 1000 watts to several 240v outlets.
Depending on the needs of the customer, the Sailfish 3300 Platinum Series Weekender can be configured anywhere between a dedicated bluewater fishing rig and a powerful cruising platform for extended offshore exploration. Proven design, attention to detail and reliable performance are key features of all Sailfish power cats with the new 3300 Weekender set to build on this impressive marine reputation.
This package is also available in Sailfish 3700 and 4000 models, with a beam option up to 4m also available for customers who want a beamier boat.
