Passionate Sailfish Catamaran owners recently joined forces for fishing glory at the annual Port Stephens Trailer Boat Fishing Competition.

Competing under the banner of Team Sailfish, the 15 Sailfish vessels and 60 anglers came from as far away as Albury and Brisbane to fish the sparkling offshore waters of the NSW north coast.

Team Sailfish was organised and sponsored by leading catamaran retailers Webbe Marine, the exclusive Sailfish agent for the eastern seaboard of Australia. Joining over 1000 other fishing competitors and boats, Team Sailfish delivered the goods at Port Stephen’s largest offshore fishing competition.

Topping the Team Sailfish achievements was 12 year old Charles Barlow who won the Junior Angler Marlin Tag & Release award for his efforts onboard the Honda powered Barlow family Sailfish 7500. Fishing from his Honda powered Sailfish 7700, Michael McFadden also came through for the team winning the Senior Marlin Tag & Release award amid a hotly contested category.

Webbe Marine made sure that all Team Sailfish participants and boat owners enjoyed their angling weekend with ‘welcome back’ drinks on the marina each afternoon and an exclusive team dinner on the Saturday night. Guest presenter Dave Buttfield from Foxtel’s Hooked on Fishing program was also on hand for the Team Sailfish dinner making the evening one to remember.

“Sailfish owners are passionate about their boats and we wanted to create a team that shared a common interest in first class boats and first class fishing,” said Webbe Marine Co-Director Gavan Daly.

“The Sailfish owners showed great camaraderie over the weekend which proved to be a successful one for Team Sailfish as well. As expected, the boats performed flawlessly and the feedback we received on the competition weekend means we will be scheduling more Team Sailfish events in the future.”
